Offers a different look at Chardonnay, one that is a little riper, a tad more sweet fruited with stone fruits in their happy place – out front and looking smart. Aromas bright in lemon, lime zest, nectarine, peach, apple with hints of lemongrass. Tassie acidity is juicy and crisp, setting the scene for a nicely complex palate in stone fruits, pear and citrus, pear skin and biscuity spices. A lemon pastille sweetness is the only hint of a touch of residual sugar (3g/L) which winemaker, Nick Glaetzer, has introduced as yet another layer of interest, cohesion and depth along with light toasty oak. Brings that Coal River Valley fresh, zippy-ness once again to Chardonnay. Equally persuasive is the leesy creaminess that runs the length of the wine.
