Corryton Burge Eden Valley Riesling 2021

South Australians are thanking the wine gods for the 2021 vintage after the significant challenges in 2020. The vineyard is important in this wine, owned by the Milton Tscharke family and on an East-facing slope so avoiding the afternoon sun which has helped to create a pristine and acid-driven wine. The colour is beautifully pale – tick. The fruit then is very pretty and pure; a compact core of pear, apple, citrus and lanolin with a dusting of spice too. The palate is then dry and tight, bursting with acidity and stony minerality before a very long and concentrated finish. There’s understated power and balance to this wine which provides delightful drinking now plus good aging potential.
