Dalrymple Cottage Block Pinot Noir 2019

I wonder if the founders of Dalrymple imagined that Tasmania would end up as one of the most desirable wine regions in Australia? It took a while but they finally got there, over thirty years after the first Dalrymple vineyards were planted. Despite its history, Dalrymple has generally sailed a little under the radar but, on their day, they are some of Tasmania’s best.

This single vineyard Pipers River Pinot is quite deeply coloured and flavoured in the darker fruit spectrum – dark cherry, dark earth and plum compote fruit aromas with high quality French oak sitting in perfect balance. It is then powerful and robust, with an almost Central Otago richness – dark berry and spicy fruit flavours that are fleshy although slightly unevolved before a long and strong finish, supported by firmish tannins. It’s a big one for Tassie and could do with a couple of years to flesh out.
