Dalwood Estate Semillon 2020

Share

2020 was not the easiest year in the Hunter Valley but Brian Currie has done a fantastic job with this wine, which has a strong regional Hunter Valley character, if in an earlier drinking style. Hunter Valley Semillon can be a little shy when young but no such problem here. It is a pale green straw colour and shows upfront lime and lemon rind aromas with some attractive lanolin complexity. The palate is then punchy with generous fruits in the citrus and melon zone supported by crisp acidity through to a silky and quite long finish. It’s got the stuffing to improve over the medium term, for fans of aged Hunter Semillon, but potentially will be at its best young thanks to that upfront style, ideally with salt and pepper squid.
