DAOSA Natural Réserve NV

Here we have the 4th Release of the DAOSA Natural Réserve Non-Vintage coming mainly from 2019 with the balance from the 2017 and 2018 vintages. We are also talking mature vineyards of at least 20 years of age. It’s a Pinot Noir dominant blend too, which shows in a wine that is both powerful and robust but also deliciously detailed.

Plenty of effort goes into the DAOSA wines which helps to lift them to the top shelf of Australian sparkling, in this case older vintages of reserve wines aged in oak without sulphur. Pale in colour with a fine bead, and initially the warmer 2019 vintage is on display with exotic aromas of pear and apple plus spicy oak while retaining its precision and focus. The palate is then bright and fresh initially before slowly unfolding with aromas of brioche and nougat joining those pear flavours before tightening up for a long and beautifully balanced, silky finish. It’s a serious bargain when compared with high quality Non-Vintage Champagne, which is where this wine sits in terms of quality.
