Like most of Deep Woods wines the variety is the star of the show. Here Chardonnay is embraced like a warm hug. It’s filled with yellow peach, fresh apricot and lemon balm. Jackfruit and papaya. It’s pulpy and fleshy on the palate with a foundation of cedar oak. Nutmeg, cinnamon and cultured butter. A Werther’s original cream candy deliciousness. Richly satisfying but perked up by fresh acidity. It’s a smart wine, almost smugly so, for the price it can be. Drink now and will cellar for another 3 years. Drink with an excellent croque monsieur.
Shanteh cut her teeth at Sydney’s Award-Winning Quay restaurant where she worked for over a decade and was Head Sommelier from 2018 till 2022. She has been nominated for the Good Food Guide Sommelier of the Year award on three occasions and claims that her experience as a Len Evans scholar as one of the highlights of her career.
