Orin Swift Palermo Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

Share

This cabernet is made from fruit drawn from all over the Napa Valley. From the warmer areas such as St. Helena to cooler Oak Knoll, it is a true representation of all the Napa has to offer and is quite different to Australian Cabernet thanks to its high-octane, no holds barred style. If Yarra Valley Cabernet is your favourite then keep well clear. But if you love Barossa at its boldest, then this wine will hit the spot.

It’s a decadent and jammy style from start to finish. Deeply coloured with lashes of powerful fruit from mulberries and currants to fruit pastilles and cola, supported by sweet, toasty oak. It’s then quite immense on the palate with roaring fruit and oak supported by well-integrated tannins. It’s a long, broad and strong red that packs a punch and needs a little time to settle or time in a decanter to show its best. Lay it down for five years if you can and then enjoy with slow-cooked lamb shanks.
