Domaine Naturaliste La Naturaliste Cabernet Franc 2020

Cabernet Franc is a perplexing variety, often blended and rarely performing as a solo artist. However, when you do find an excellent single varietal example it’s a beautiful moment. The “Lenny” or La Naturaliste Cabernet Franc by Bruce Dukes is one of the few produced in the region. This is still a baby of a wine, however, the restrained perfume and delicate fruit on the palate is a giveaway for what is to come with time. Red fruits, violets, white florals, green peppercorns, nutmeg, and a slight graphite note. Blackcurrant and blueberry is edged with a slightly fresh herbaceous element on the palate. Tannins are a little youthful, so be sure to decant this if drinking now, or sit on it for 8-10 years to let them soften. A pleasant savoury finish lingers, while the delicate purple fruit continues to wrap her fingers tightly around the palate. A solid example of this variety.
