Domaine Naturaliste Purus Chardonnay 2020

The concept is crystal clear in this wine – it is Bruce Dukes crack at French-styled chardonnay. He has gone down to the cooler end of Margaret River in search of searing acidity and then he has topped it off with French clones to accentuate that savoury style. Pale straw and some very serious aromatic complexity to start off with both crowd pleasing elements as well some finer details; toasty oak with a touch of creme caramel, oatmeal, white pear and nectarine all tight and focussed. The palate is then dry, bright and savoury; almost peaty leesy complexity and praline over a bed of citrus and floral fruits. It’s linear and precise but also carries exceptional flavour concentration with superb balance on a long and silky finish. Delicious and exceptional value.
