Greenock Creek Jaensch Block Shiraz 2019

Share

Bit of a game changer here with Greenock Creek slowly widening its sourcing from its traditional home of Seppeltsfield and Marananga to Moppa. It’s a good move adding some different accents to the Greenock Creek range, although I can’t see a Greenock Creek Eden Valley Shiraz coming anytime soon……

With a long history for their other wines and settled winemaking I can see this wine potentially changing a little over time as the team at Greenock Creek come to grips with what works best for this site. It’s unmistakably Greenock Creek with a deep ruby colour and full flavoured style with lashings of ripe chocolatey and berry liqueur fruits. There is delicious generosity of flavour, particularly on the palate with supple tannins providing a decent backbone. Oak just seems a little heavy on this for mine but will come back in time. That said, for many Greenock Creek fans that will only add to the experience.
