Give it a good swirl to release a whiff of vanilla cherry tart, cherry compote, toasty oak, sweet baking spice and rose petal preserve. The winemaking seems a little more on show than the others in this release, but it’s delicious. Tannins are a little bolder than its Yarra peers. A slightly fleshier, juicer impression of Pinot, with lots of charred dark chocolate, coffee grindings and Campari in there too. Some nice savoury punches, bright acidity perks things up and salinity that is quenching. An engaging, grippier, just-wild umami Vegemite toast finish that lingers.
