Hatch Vesey Shiraz 2023

Alf Vesey worked at Penfolds for almost half a century, including for a time as their Master Winemaker, during which time he mentored a bloke called Max Schubert (the man who invented Grange, if you were wondering). He was also Chris Hatcher’s great-grandfather and this wine is a fitting tribute to him. An opaque maroon hue, the nose exhibits notes of plums, chocolate, cassis, coffee grinds, cloves, blackfruits, leather and freshly baked black cherry pie. A powerful style with saturated flavours and very good length, this is a seriously good McLaren Vale Shiraz which will drink well for the next fifteen to twenty years.
