Henschke The Rose Grower Nebbiolo 2016

Nebbiolo is hard work and it takes a hell of a lot of time and patience to get this grape variety right. But here we have a delicious and early drinking style of this notorious grape variety, which originated in Northern Italy.

It is a pretty bright mid cherry colour (which is perfect for nebbiolo) and shows a beautiful perfume; raspberry and cherry fruits with earth and fennel seed plus older oak sitting in the background. The palate is distinctly earthy and meaty with layers of spice and potpourri supported by supple tannins. The wine feels at its peak now but will kick on.
