Henschke Johanne Ida Selma Blanc de Noir MD

Share

This is a multi-vintage, mature disgorgement release, from Lenswood in the Adelaide Hills, 100% Pinot Noir. Elegantly packaged (what Henschke wine isn’t?), it contains a mix of vintages ranging from 1997 (the very first year that the Henschkes set out to make sparkling) to 2018. There is ripeness, richness and excellent length with some complexity already evident but expect this to build over time. Red-fruited, well focused, there are hints of toast – it is not a sparkler for those looking for the very elegant or aperitif end of the spectrum, this is full of concentration, power and flavour before a long, lingering finish. It might be somewhat divisive in style, but no questioning the quality. For those for whom this is the style you seek, you’ll love it. Drink over the next 8 to 10 years. Not that they would ever admit it but there would be more than a few Champagne houses proud to have produced this. 2022 Disgorgement.
