Brilliant cherry-cerise hues. Quite an upfront, buoyant Gamay expression that comes with an inbuilt earthy, herbal savouriness. It’s a nice, almost Italianate touch, that introduces another layer of serious flavour in a grape that often comes across as a simple flavour bomb. Aromas of red and dark cherries, dried raspberry, hibiscus and thyme. It builds up into something a little more on the palate, definitely more stimulating, with layers of red fruits and berries but earth, rhubarb, dried herbs and an amaro quality that finishes the wine on a clean, dry, savoury note.
