A relatively new addition to the Henschke range, this is their gateway Eden Valley shiraz, which shows a clear lineage to Mount Edelstone and Hill of Grace from the same vintage. It is deeply coloured with wave after wave of aromatic complexity – energetic blackberry, baked earth, sage, parsley stalks, violets and spice. A great palate too – compact and concentrated but also showing a real elegance with liquorice, back olive and mulberry flavours. The finish is long and engaging with sinewy Eden Valley tannins on display but they are balanced and help to draw out a very long finish. So delicious now and with plenty of potential to enjoy over the medium term.
