This oozes class from the outset, albeit still in the nerviness of youth. Dark cherry, red berries, plum, nutmeg, forest floor, leaf litter and mushroom earthiness. The nutmeg spice a lovely overlaying feature to the fruit and earth notes, with the plum adding a touch of ripeness and flesh against the leafier, more savoury edges. The palate is cool and lifted with a lovely even feel and good intensity. Similar to the nose, there’s a beautiful spread and melding of earthy savouriness and svelte fruit. Gorgeous texture on show before fine but firm chalky tannins wrap it up to lovely savoury length. Lots of promise here. This will flesh out beautifully with time in bottle.
