Falkenberg is named for one of Dean Hewitson’s favourite growers, a scion of a generational Barossa Valley family now retired. This wine is a worthy tribute, grown from 25-year-old vines, with intense aromas of black cherry and blackcurrant, the fragrance of lilac, and vanilla, milk chocolate and hints of mocha as round and creamy notes. The wine is full-bodied and ripe but has restraint, with a core of acidity and muscular tannins driving through the velvety richness. The finish is long and results in salivating tastebuds. Delicious. Drink now or hold for 10+ years.
