Melissa began her hospitality career in London working for the Rolling Stones, returning to Australia in the 90’s at the dawn of the wine bar explosion in Melbourne, developing a deep love of wine, restaurants, beaches and much warmer weather. She has judged at a number of national and local wine shows including The Royal Sydney Show, the NSW Wine Awards and the Alternative Varieties Show, has sat on tasting panels for industry magazines and contributed to the Sydney Morning Herald with wine selection articles. Melissa is a scholar of the Len Evans’ Tutorial and was dux of the 2019 New Zealand Family of Twelve Tutorial. She is a wine consultant and educator and is the Head Sommelier of Merivale’s eastern suburbs venues, including Hotel Centennial, Fred’s, Ms G’s and Totti’s at The Royal. Her other loves include music – she had a radio show on Bondi FM and still DJs on occasion – and her family. Melissa lives with her family in Bondi.
