Hewitson Private Cellar Shiraz Mourvedre 2018

This is 70% shiraz from the deep sandy Carrot Patch block and 30% mourvedre selected from the best vines of Baby Bush on Steingarten Road. After a combination of whole bunch and crushing it was left for three weeks before ageing for 21 months in seasoned French barriques. Dark liqueur chocolate, liquorice with plummy blackberry and dark cherry all reveal themselves the deeper you dig into its palate. There’s a sweetness in the fruit which is balanced by the dry dusty earthiness of the vineyards. The combination works so well.
