Hewitson Truffle Row Carignan Syrah 2021

Share

Hewitson has been dabbling with carignan for a few years as part of its Miss Harry blend, but then in 2020 decided to test it out in the cellar. It’s an interesting variety, not widely planted in Australia, and which despite its Spanish origins is more common in France, especially the Languedoc. It has turned out to be a hit in cellar door and so the 2021 has been released more widely. It’s 85% carignan with just a 15% inclusion of syrah so as not to dominate the essentially scrumptious carignan. It’s medium bodied, fruity and perfumed and thoroughly delicious drinking over the next few years.
