Howard Park Grand Vintage Jeté 2017

Share

Howard Park are now getting very serious with their Jeté project. New equipment and new winemaker Nic Bowen, who spent years working with Ed Carr of Arras fame, all adds up to some exciting new releases on the way in coming years. It’s also part of WA as a state starting to go hard on sparkling wines, especially from cooler regions.

This blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay has spent an impressive 54 months on lees which has provided plenty of detail with doughy, oyster shell and a touch smoky aromas over a rich bed of citrus and green apple fruits. There is a youthful energy but also impressive impact of savoury Pinot Noir flavours that builds into a long, almost creamy textured finish well supported by crisp acidity. It feels at peak but don’t be in too much of a hurry to enjoy over the next five years with some quite substantial dishes.
