Ironcloud Wines pepperilly sauvignon blanc semillon 2020

The Western Australian Classic Dry White, normally crafted with sauvignon blanc and semillon, used to be one the most popular styles of wine in the country. Retailers and bars needed a handful in the fridge just to keep the punters happy. No great surprise as they are delicious wines when done right, as this one is.

While Margaret River has been the traditional home for these Classic Dry Whites, this example is from the slightly warmer Ferguson Valley which gives it beautifully powerful fruit flavours. Pale in colour, the wine shows passionfruit, guava, citrus fruits with a nice touch of lanolin so there is plenty going on here. It is then dry and vibrant – layers of fresh fruit with an edge of lemongrass on a silky long finish. A delicious example of this classic wine style. Great to drink on its own but also a good match with summer fruit salads.
