Jilyara Heath Road Cabernet Sauvignon 2020

Share

A Cabernet that is reflective of the warm(ish) year, abundant ripe red fruits, both soft and juicy whilst the oak is well placed in the background. Pencil shavings, graphite line, and bay leaf play ball with blackcurrant and black plum. There’s an inviting damp earth note too, with warming spices at the fringe. The palate is framed by dark chocolate, inky berries, nutmeg and black velvet. This is a bit sexy. Black olive crushed, sundried tomato, brine and a hint of nori. It’s perhaps a little warm on the palate, but the acid is tucked in and keeps it fresh. There are some lovely chalky-chewy tannins on display making for a nice, mid-weight, mid-level, mid-priced Cabernet. Comfort wine and great value at $35.
