Blackberry, bramble and mulberry. Sage leaf, winter pine and cherry chocolate. A hint of clove, cardamom and cassia bark. Hot cocoa and Woodear mushroom. A quiet wine that is running its own race. Tannins are fine and silty but persistent which adds surprisingly solid foundations. Acidity keeps pace. This is sultry and beckoning and still has a ways to go to truly flourish. An impressive wine in a challenging year. Drink now and will cellar another 6-8 years thanks to those smartly tailored tannins. A nice pairing for beef brisket or a juicy sirloin.
