Love this battle of the Chardonnay Clones: Gingin Versus Clone 95, the opulent and luxurious one and the subtle, elegant one, going head to head. They make a fine pair, bobbing and weaving around each other like prized fighters, bringing some distinctive Margaret River Chardonnay characters to bear. Together, Gingin (92%) and Clone 95 (8%) guide sea spray, white peach, nectarine, citrus, ginger, aromas to the glass .The palate is fleshed out, dusty, chalky in texture, nicely elevated and well-structured by lively acidity. Maybe not classic Margs, but it meets the price point with good flavour and an arresting dusty citrus, sour lemon drop tang that stays with you. The role of new French oak (30%) is noted.
