A Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (91%), Petit Verdot (5%) and Cabernet Franc (4%), attractive and upfront in fruit, keeping the momentum going strong through to the finish. Rises above the average and into silver medal territory by staying true to, and focused on, the quality of the fruit – it’s a relatively simple algorithm, but one not often adhered to. And, as it offers such good drinking now and the ability to age and improve further over the short term, it is one versatile young Cabernet at the price. Black cherry, black plum, cassis, tobacco, crushed herbs, smoky oak and some aromatic lift courtesy of violet florals. The aromas sing. Solid fruit projection on the palate joined by gentle oak and a sinewy tannin presence. Good depth and top marks for the integration of French oak.
