Johnston Shiraz 2020

Shiraz made by the O’Leary Walker team for $15? Someone is surely taking the proverbial here. These guys are consummate winemakers, from their time making some of the best wines in the Mildara Blass portfolio, to their own Clare Valley operation. This alone should be sufficient encouragement for winelovers to go all in.

Very dark in colour, the nose is black fruits and cold tea, coffee grinds and dried herbs. The palate moves more to mocha and chocolate. Lots of tannins here, but well managed. A richly flavoured Shiraz that will drink well for 4 to 6 years but there is no reason to wait. It really is cracking value.
