Quite possibly my favourite blend out of the Clare Valley. Lots of aromatic lift out of the glass – there is bucket loads of boysenberry, charcuterie (prosciutto) leading into layers of complexity on the palate. Dark chocolate and mocha spice, nutmeg, and an integrated matrix of blue and black fruits. There is elegance, there is grunt, there is a graphite tannin, savoury complexity and mineral freshness. A compact and beautifully framed wine showing flair and energy now but will continue to build in all departments. Gosh I’m thinking game meat here – venison or kangaroo loin with a dark, bitter chocolate sauce.
