Koonara Angel’s Peak Shiraz Coonawarra 2021

Share

Certified organic. Named in honour of the ‘Angel’s Share’ evaporation inherent with oak ageing. Eucalyptus and blackberry lift from the glass before the emergence of peppercorn, game meat and graphite. Some subtle earthy notes beneath and whisper of coal. There’s a lovely mix of black fruit and spice that finds cohesion with air. The palate has lovely intensity and vibrancy while staying elevated. Blackberry, coal, menthol, eucalyptus and pepper are quickly encased in firm, grainy tannins and black fruited acidity. There’s good length here, with an ashy, smoky mouth perfume closing out the show. Overall, this shows good balance, complexity and interest at $32 per bottle, from certified organic fruit. Nicely done.
