Krondorf King’s Mantle Shiraz 2022

Share

Krondorf have released their icon Shiraz for the first time since 2019 (not sure why we skipped 2021 but no matter). The fruit for this fellow icon Shiraz is sourced from the Kingship Vineyard in Krondorf, a subregion in the northeast of the Barossa (Krondorf is, of course, as the name of the winery and sub-region, and local village). Again, maturation was in a combination of new and previously used French oak for around a year and a half. Near black in colour with an opaque maroon rim, the nose is chockful of notes of chocolate, black cherries, root vegetables, charcuterie, beef stock, mocha, soy, black fruits and cocoa powder. A wine that crams flavour into every nook and cranny. Seamless in structure and with a seductive texture and excellent length, through to satiny tannins, the wine is well balanced with a lingering finish. Enjoy this anytime over the next fifteen to twenty years
