Kyneton Ridge Cabernet Shiraz 2022

Share

Brings together Macedon Ranges Cabernet (60%) and Heathcote Shiraz (40%) – possibly the first time? – and the marriage is a most joyous one. The trad Aussie classic red blend is done proud by the two regions which bring fine structure and generous fruit to the glass. Lifted aromatics entice in briar, acacia, leaf and black fruits. Medium bodied, nicely textured, well-structured and elegant. Love the peppery spice element to this wine, a kind of pepperberry character that is so enticing and lifts and ties in well with the black fruits, earth and autumnal characters. Just the right amount of oak (nine months French oak – 20% new) softens some of the Cabernet’s edges and makes the Shiraz happy.
