Leconfield Manor House Shiraz 2022

Soft but rich aromas of eucalyptus, crushed herbs and spiced dark plum lead the charge with some nutmeg and black pepper spice in tow. Air unlocks some attractive dried violet notes along with sweeter tones of ripe blackberry to fill things out. Mocha and dark chocolate linger in the background, too. The palate is full bodied and richly toned, but there’s a controlled and measured feel. Juicy blackberry and dark plum slosh around the mouth with mocha, milk chocolate and black pepper in support. Tannins are firm and laced with chocolate and ground coffee, with a bright line of minty acidity freshening the finish. It’s the balance that makes it, with richness and fullness kept in check by oak spice and firm structure.
