Wilyabrup truly is a wonderland for Australian Cabernet, and this wine is a case in point. As I’m tasting this in June 2026, it’s bound tight. As good Cabernet (and friends) should be at the start of its life. It makes me want to buy a case and drink one each year. Pencil shavings, cassis and clove. Everything is subtle, yet present in spades. Figure that one out. In the mouth, it’s equally exciting, with plush fruit, fine but abundant tannins, and an even palate weight that carries from front to back before unfurling into a long, sustained finish. I can still taste it.
