A wine that changed the winemaker’s life forever, find out more from the man Marcell Kustos himself at Drinkludo.com. 60% whole bunches in the final wine but with a considerable layering of destemmed and stems throughout the ferment before maturation in French hogsheads for 14 months. Vintage conditions are evident in the sheer concentration of blackberries, plum and sweet fig. Madagascar vanilla bean, kola nut and black sapote fruit lead to cassia bark and crushed black peppercorn. Here the inkyness of ripe fruit is nicely composed by spice and dried herbal nuances. Like bayleaf, dried porcini mushroom and dark coffee grinds. The wine has an honesty about it, a warm year that’s been treated with thoughtfulness for the final balance. Drinking beautifully but has the stuffing to develop further for another 3 years. Serve with blackened charred meats and sweetcorn.
