Margan Breaking Ground Shiraz 2021

Share

Of all the Breaking Ground wines from 2021 this was the pick. But if you are looking for a traditional Hunter red then look away as this is a deliciously modern, early drinking style while still retaining some of its Hunter roots. Light in colour but with a little haze thanks to no filtration, there is an attractive mix of carbonic jubey, raspberry fruits beautifully offset by more savoury red earth complexity. It is followed by a dry, punchy palate that says drink me now thanks to fleshy fruits, supple tannins and balanced acidity which come together to provide a lingering finish. It’s a triumph and this Hunter style has a big future.
