Brokenwood Verona Vineyard 2023

Share

The Verona vineyard is nestled across the road from the Gravewood Vineyard and was planted in 1968 and further plantings going in 2002. Sitting on heavy clay the wine is cold soaked and  fermented for 4-5 days, it goes into 1 and 2 year old French oak. There is a potpourri note that lifts off the face of this wine and then opens further with blackberries, gravelly potting soil and terra cotta. Dried thyme and woodsy herbs lead to a powdered white pepper and cumin spice. A pop of Gala apple skin moves throughout too. Fine sandy tannins and long juicy acidity will ensure this ages well. Drink now with asado short ribs or age for another 8-10 years further.
