From a cooler estate vineyard in the Clarendon district, there’s a fair bit of aromatic attraction to start, and meat on the bones as you taste, peppery spice, rich crimson plum cake – oat crumble on top – all well proportioned in the palate, black berry and currant dominant, neatly offset with a savoury braise underbelly. Older oak and supportive tannins hold the wine in place, sustain pedal on all the way. A great all-round presence.
