Hillrose, a single vineyard on a plateau in the Hilltops region, is a new addition to the Briar Ridge wine family. There’s some lovely, expressive fruit on display here, aromatically keen. Super fragrant aromas of rose petal, florals, violet, sage, anise, blueberry and plum. Boasts the kind of cooler climate Shiraz characters that are so wonderfully spicy and lively. The palate is noticeably more solid, tight and structural with a firm tannin presence. Fruit is in the background still, tightly bound, waiting for more time to do a complete reveal. The finish is blunt and direct – this is one wine that will definitely reward further ageing.
