Eisenstone is derived from the German word, eisen, for iron, and is a tribute to both the soils of the Barossa and the immigrants who settled the region. Each Barossa sub-region brings its own sense of style to Shiraz. Here, Greenock is black fruited and taut with an engaging savouriness. It’s going to be one for the cellar but there is a big future there. Captures black fruits, aniseed, cacao, black olive with smoky meats and earth. The palate is taut with dry, astringent tannins keeping everything in stock and coiled tight at this early age. Bit of a dip mid palate before launching into a big finish, dry and stony clean. It’s early days.
