Orin Swift Machete 2018

This is a blend of petite sirah, syrah and grenache. The colour is inky black and almost opaque and little surprise is that it is also super concentrated and massively intense. Yet, here’s the thing, despite all that fruit opulence and substantial alcohol it has a refinement and never gets excessively hot in the mouth. There’s so much happening with blackcurrant and dark plum, spices, a trace of gun powder. The tannins have a grainy, gravelly feel and the oak is well integrated. It’s a biggie but well managed.
