Ottelia Riesling 2021

Share

A fascinating expression of Australian Riesling here – very different from the South Australian norm and shares plenty with its brethren across Bass Strait. It’s also from the largely unheralded region of Mt Gambier – a perfect example of why its great to step off the beaten track every once in a while.

Pale in colour, the wine displays an array of exotic yet subtle perfumes. Pear, preserved lemon, musk, chalk and spice – as you can guess, plenty to see here. The palate is one for all the acid junkies out there – dry and with spine tingling acidity; the fruit detailed in the chalky, citrus spectrum before a fine, long and dainty finish. Mouthwateringly delicious, it screams out for spicy Vietnamese spring rolls.
