Ottelia Sangiovese 2022

Kwondong, raspberry leaf and poached rhubarb — this wine keeps me young. Crack it, plonk it, and let it do the heavy lifting at lunch. Friends, lovers, one-night stands… It clears the throat and oils the chat. Wild strawberry, cranberries, red liquorice. Juicy, vibrant, effortless. The fruit hails from Padthaway — a warmer, more Mediterranean pocket of the Limestone Coast that clearly allows Sangiovese to thrive. Tannins squeak like halloumi, fine and architectural. The acid is al dente, keeping it tight, youthful, and food-friendly. The finish is long, with savoury notes of gum nut and bay leaf. Solid wine.
