Leaves a big impression from the very first swish of the glass and the lifted scent, aromatic, enticing, complex and rich in aniseed, black fruits, plum, earth and mint. Effortless springs to mind. This has the authority that comes with old vines and the kind of seamless beauty delivered through good winemaking. Fruit is sourced off Blocks 1 and 2, old vines planted in 1969, and located on the famous Coonawarra terra rossa cigar strip. It is a pure expression of place, as pure as you will get, with fabulous depth and intensity of fruit, spice and a touch of regional mint that really lifts. A light veneer of cedar and woodsy spice comes together in harmony with fine tannins. Highlights the beauty of a grape that lives forever in the shadow of Cabernet in Coonawarra. More power to Coonawarra Shiraz!
