If there is such a thing as licorice fudge then it smells just like this wine – rich, spicy aniseed mixed with creamy caramel. Lashings of blackberry and black cherry leap from the glass while a subtle rocky earth invites you to dig deeper (so punny!) On the palate it is surprisingly fresh and lifted, hovering just above a medium body with levels of soft, rounded tannins. Plenty of fresh, juicy black fruits, beautifully integrated nutmeg-scented oak and a savoury cacao-nib and crushed fennel-seed finish.
