Pietro Wines Nero 100% Nero d’Avola 2023

Fleurieu Peninsula fruit. Lovely dark fruited juice hits the nose on opening, with vanilla-toned oak supporting a firm base. A lick of mineral-laden broody slate, the black-forrest-esque flavours hold one’s attention while the tannins wrestle between chewy and dusty. Acid is pert, and there’s a dried sour plum brightness. A wine made for mid-week pasta night. Unashamedly Italian at its heart, with the bright Aussie sunshine and open-book, no-worries Aussie attitude.
