Purple Hands After Five Wine Co Montepulciano 2019

Share

Despite its rarity Montepulciano seems very well suited to the Barossa Valley. It loves a warm climate and retains its acidity even in hot vintages, which is why this grape variety does so well in central Italy, and that same quality can be seen here, if in a bigger style. Quite deep in colour, it explodes with brooding dark cherries dipped in chocolate and dried herb fruits which are rounded up by mocha tinged oak. It’s then dry and vibrant in the mouth with swirls of dark, juicy fruit and tobacco flavours backed up by mouthcoating tannins and a fresh acid bite. Enjoy with Lamb Koftas hot off the barbecue with a spicy yoghurt dressing.
