Rising Small Batch White 2018

The Rising range is made by Tom Bedford out of the well known Sticks winery in the Yarra Valley. These are low intervention wines with a distinct nod to the natural wine movement, and are a great introduction to the style.

This wine is made from fruit grown on a single vineyard in the Yarra Valley’s Christmas Hills from an unusual blend of Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay and Semillon. Some of the wine is fermented in barrels and other components on skins. There are no additions and just a little filtration and sulphur additions at bottling. I don’t always love these styles but this wine delivers. It has subtle layers of savoury fruits – lychee, peach, floral and citrus. On the palate there is some well balanced spicy oak that underlies a complex palate. Fans of natural wine will love it.
