With its squeeze of fresh lime, lemon and zest, this Tassie Chardonnay gives the drinker an immediate burst of cool climate Tassie character. Citrus intensity is integral to its style. Grapefruit pith, lemon-lime, apple and a light spice with a discreet whisper of some classy vanillin oak. There is a lot of Chardonnay joy right now, but it remains early days and further ageing is not out of the question. Pithy and textural, it works well with the super bright acidity on show – a good balancing act performed by the winemaker.

Based in Melbourne, Jeni created the first wine column in the (then) Sun News-Pictorial before moving over to The Age and becoming that paper’s longest-serving wine writer.
