Riversdale Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Close your eyes. Tasted blind you might be tempted to call this wine out as a Riesling. Such is the bright, citrussy acidity and purity of lemon, grapefruit and green apple fruit that it’s highly suggestive of Riesling, but then the arrival of delicate herbal, vegetal aromas and flavours sets you down the Sauvignon path. It’s an exhilarating wine as we have maybe come to expect from the grape but rather more sophisticated and delicate in delivery. Sourced from Tasmania’s Coal River Valley, fruit was picked early (11.5% alc.) which goes to explain the brisk acidity with mineral textural interplay, the focus on citrus and green apple and the injection of palate-enhancing lantana, grass and green bean.
